RF (RADIO FREQUENCY) THERAPY

How Does RF Treatment Work?

Radio frequency (RF) treatment is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin. This process stimulates collagen production, tightens skin, reduces wrinkles, and can even target fat deposits, depending on the specific treatment type. RF treatments are commonly used for skin rejuvenation, body contouring, and cellulite reduction.

Common Treatment Areas

- Face and neck forehead: reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

- Under-eye area: Tightens loose skin and reduces puffiness.

- Firms skin and improves facial contour.

- Jawline and chin: enhances jawline definition and addresses sagging.

- Neck: improves skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of "turkey neck."

- Body abdomen: tightens loose skin post-pregnancy or weight loss.

- Thighs: reduces cellulite and firms skin.

- Buttocks: enhances contour and minimises dimpling.

- Upper arms: treats "bat wings" by tightening loose skin.

- Back: addresses laxity, especially around the bra line.

- Knee: improves skin texture and tightness around the joints.

- Hands: rejuvenates aging skin by reducing wrinkles and improving firmness.

Unsuitable Areas

Fat Cavitation should not be used on: areas with:

- Little to no fat, such as bony regions.

- The chest area in men or women (for safety reasons related to underlying structures).

- The face, other than the chin or jawline, due to the proximity to delicate tissues.

Benefits of RF Treatment

- Non-invasive: no needles or surgery are required.

- Minimal downtime: patients can resume daily activities immediately after the procedure.

- Improved collagen production: results in firmer, younger-looking skin over time.

- Versatile: can be used on various areas of the body and face.

- Safe for most skin types: unlike some laser treatments, RF is generally suitable for all skin tones and types.

Potential Side Effects

- Temporary redness or swelling: mild redness, swelling, or warmth is common and typically resolves within a few hours to a day.

- Sensitivity: the treated area may feel slightly tender or tight for a short time.

-Rare risks: with improper application, there is a slight risk of burns or uneven results, which is why treatment should only be performed by licensed professionals.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

RF treatment is ideal for individuals who:

- Want non-surgical options for skin tightening or fat reduction.

- Are looking to improve the texture and elasticity of their skin.

- Have mild to moderate sagging, wrinkles, or cellulite.

- Are at or near their ideal body weight (for body contouring treatments).

What to Expect

- Treatment duration: sessions usually last 30-60 minutes, depending on the area/areas being treated.

- Pain level: RF treatments are generally painless, with most patients describing a warm, relaxing sensation.

Results

Results may vary between noticing change within a few days of your treatment to taking between 4-10 sessions. Areas with significant fat layers may benefit from RF therapy combined with other modalities like fat cavitation and vacuum therapy for enhanced results. I have blended 60min sessions available in my booking system.

Conclusion

RF treatment is an effective, non-invasive solution for tightening skin, reducing wrinkles, and contouring the body. Whether you're looking to rejuvenate your face or address problem areas on your body, RF therapy offers a safe and versatile option for achieving a more youthful, toned appearance.

BEFORE & AFTER CARE

Before RF Treatment

1. Make sure you have filled in and returned your, online medical history, and suitability forms emailed to you for your first RF treatment.

2. Discuss any underlying conditions and inform your provider if you are taking any medications or have a compromised immune system.

3. Antiviral Medication (if necessary) If you have a history of herpes or cold sores, take antiviral medication (such as acyclovir or valacyclovir) as prescribed by your doctor. This typically starts 1-2 days before the procedure to prevent flare-ups.

4. Avoid Certain Products and Treatments Stop using retinoids, exfoliants, or other harsh skin treatments (such as chemical peels) 3-5 days before the procedure to avoid skin sensitivity.

5. Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds for at least a week before treatment to minimize the risk of hyperpigmentation.

6. Do not undergo other cosmetic treatments on the same area, such as laser or microneedling, within two weeks of the RF session.

7. Stay Hydrated Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment to keep your skin hydrated and support the body’s natural healing process.

8. Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before the procedure as they can dehydrate the skin and increase sensitivity.

9. Remove Makeup and Skincare Products Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.

10. Avoid applying lotions, creams, or oils on the treatment area before the procedure.

11. Eat Light and Rest Well Avoid heavy meals right before your session, especially if your treatment area is on the body, to ensure comfort during the procedure.

After RF

After a Radio frequency (RF) treatment, proper care is crucial to maximise results and minimise any potential side effects.

Here’s a step-by-step guide for post-treatment care:

Immediately After the Treatment

1. Expect Mild Side Effects

Redness, slight swelling, or a warm sensation are normal and should subside within a few hours to a day.

You might experience mild tenderness or tightness, depending on the intensity of the treatment.

2. Cool the Area (if needed)

Use a cool, damp cloth or ice pack wrapped in a soft cloth to soothe the treated area if there is discomfort. Avoid applying ice directly to the skin.

3. Hydrate

Drink plenty of water to support lymphatic drainage and the natural healing process.

Keep the treated area moisturised with a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturiser to prevent dryness.

3. First 24-48 Hours

- Avoid Heat and Sun Exposure. Stay out of direct sunlight, and avoid tanning beds, saunas, or hot baths, as they can exacerbate redness and irritation. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) on the treated area. Skip Strenuous Activities and avoid activities that cause excessive sweating (e.g., heavy workouts or hot yoga) to reduce irritation in the treated area.

4. Avoid Harsh Products

Do not use exfoliants, retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) on the treated area for at least 3-5 days. Stick to a gentle cleanser and avoid scrubbing or harsh washing. Refrain from Makeup (if applicable) Avoid wearing makeup on the treated area for 24-48 hours to reduce the risk of irritation or clogging pores.

5. Long-Term Care

Commit to sunscreen and use sunscreen daily, even after the initial recovery period, to protect the skin and prevent hyperpigmentation. Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle Stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet, and prioritise rest to help your skin heal and rejuvenate effectively.

5. Follow Up Treatments

RF treatments typically require a series of sessions for optimal results. Follow your provider’s recommendations for scheduling follow-ups. Use Collagen-Boosting Products Incorporate products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, peptides, or ceramides to support collagen production and enhance your results.

6. What to Avoid

Long-Term Prolonged exposure to the sun or UV light without protection. Smoking, as it can hinder collagen production and impair results. Overuse of harsh skincare products.
